Batting Types

There are many different types of batting options, and it all depends on what look or feel you're trying to achieve.

Let’s first go over Loft. For each of the different types of batting (cotton, poly, wool, etc.), you can select the loft.

  • Request – Light Weight loft
    • Great for summer quilts or wearables
    • Ideal for delicate projects stitched by hand but can be used on longarms
  • Select – Mid-Weight loft
    • Very versatile and used in both hand and machine quilting
    • Has a beautiful drape
  • Deluxe – Mid-Weight loft
    • A bit denser than Select and provides more warmth to quilts
  • Supreme – Heavy-Weight loft
    • A hefty and dense batting

Next, let’s go over Material

  • Quilters Dream Cotton
    • About 1–3% shrinkage after washing/drying
    • Grown by U.S. farmers and made from 100% renewable cotton fiber
    • Keeps you cool in summer by absorbing moisture away from the body
  • Quilters Dream Poly
    • Modern technology makes it hard to believe it’s polyester
    • Fine, silky soft microfibers mimic cotton
    • Provides softness, fullness, and beautiful drape
    • No shrinkage and won’t crease even when folded long-term
  • Quilters Dream 80/20
    • 80% cotton / 20% polyester
    • Reduces shrinkage and adds structure
    • Still breathable and cool in summer
